Dear Colleague
As a group of paediatric oncologists, biologists and pathologists we have been working collaboratively under the umbrella organisation of EICNHL (European intergroup collaboration for childhood NHL) to develop and conduct clinical research programs on childhood Non Hodgkin lymphomas and to promote basic and translational research. The anaplastic large cell lymphoma trial, ALCL99, developed and run through EICNHL was a successful study recruiting over 500 patients and conducted in 12 countries, via 10 national or cooperative groups including most European pediatric lymphoma study groups and a Japanese group.
There has been some recent discussion at the ENCCA meeting (European Network for Cancer Research in Children and Adolescents about how paediatric oncologists might work collaboratively with colleagues looking after adult patients, this being particularly important in the teenage and young adult groups of patients.
As we are at a point of hopefully moving forward with an ALCL study, and ALCL ALK +ve disease seems biologically the same disease in children and young adults, we would like to invite you to a day where we can share our experiences and knowledge of this condition in the paediatric and adult worlds. We would hope that there will be an area that as adult and paediatric oncologists we may be able to collaborate upon whether it is in a therapeutic study or biological research.
We enclose an agenda for a meeting which we would like to be interactive and focussing on ALCL planned for January 10th 2014 to be held in central Paris at the Necker Hospital. We very much hope that you will find this agenda stimulating and will be able to attend and contribute.
There will be no cost to register for the meeting but would ask that you complete the enclosed registration form so we have an idea of the numbers able to attend.
We look forward to welcoming you to Paris
Regards
Denise Williams, Laurence Brugieres
